Trail To Success patch

Kernel Korn has a great & korny idea to reward top notch popcorn sellers in the Greater Yosemite Council. Each Scout selling $1000.00 or more will become a member of Kernel Korn's K-Klub and will be invited to attend the K-Klub pizza party in January. In addition he will receive a K-Klub t-shirt with the names of all K-Klub members printed on it.

On-Line Ordering “New for 2005”

Record your unit's Popcorn Sales online using the Trail's End web site. All of your unit’s Popcorn orders, both Show & Sell (Show & Deliver) and Take Order can be placed on-line, instead of turning in paper copies to your District Kernel. You will need to obtain your Username and Password from your District Executive. Instructions are as follows:

1. Contact your District Kernel to sign up for the sale. Your Kernel will give you your username and password.
2. Log on to the web site at www.trails-end.com
3. Click on Council, District and Unit Popcorn System.
4. Enter username and password.
5. Follow the easy instructions from there to place your order.

Your order will then be verified by your District Kernel and submitted to Trail's End.

Timeline

Collage 2September:  Show & Sell (Show & Deliver) orders due on or before Sept. 9
Product available on September 9, 2005. If you need product prior to this date contact Bill Heneks @ 545-6320. Products containing chocolate will not be available for Show & Sell or Show & Deliver.
All product for the Show & Sell (Show & Deliver) will be delivered to the Modesto office. Please call to make arrangements for pick up.

Take Order Sale Units may begin selling on a take-order basis as soon as the materials are in hand. Materials available at your DISTRICT KICK-OFF in August or at Roundtable meetings in September.

October: Show & Sell (Show & Deliver) money and left over product to be returned no later than October 28.

November: Take Order Sale Orders are due no later than November 4. This is to include prize orders. Orders will be confirmed and submitted to Trail End on November 8. Product should be available for pick up by November 17. Please call your Popcorn Kernel or District Executive to confirm availability

December: Take Order Sale Money from Take Order Sale due to council NO LATER than December 9. After Dec. 9 penalties will accrue for late turn-in . REMEMBER, proceeds should be remitted to council in the form of a single check for the entire amount.

January: K-Klub Members party. Those Scouts selling one thousand dollars or more in gross sales will be invited to attend the K-Klub celebration with their parents. See additional information about K- Klub members elsewhere in this pamphlet.

Up To 35% Commission 2005!

Units participating in the prize program earn 25% commission. Those units turning in their commitment information by the deadline will be entitled to an additional 2% or a total of 27% commission. If their Popcorn Chairman attends the Kick-Off meeting they will earn an additional 3% commission. If the unit does both, the total commission available will be 30%.

Units not participating in the prize program will have a base commission of 30%. If they commit by the August 1 deadline they will earn an additional 2%. If they have their Popcorn Chairman attend the Kick-Off they will be entitled to an additional 3%. If the unit does both of the above they will earn a total commission of 35%!

Special Opportunities:

LDS Scouting Families: If families wish to participate in the sale, they may do so (as a separate entity not in association with the church) by contacting Sara at the Modesto Scout Service Center. All commissions, special prizes, etc., apply just as they do for our Scouting units.

Corporate Sales: Do you know of businesses who strongly supports the Scouts? Trail’s End Popcorn would make wonderful Christmas Gifts for their employees and their customers. Corporate Sales can be included as additional sales for individual, Scout Families, Jamboree Scouts and Unit Sales.

 

PRIZES/RECOGNITIONS AT A GLANCE

There are a variety of ways in which Scouts can earn recognitions through the popcorn sale…

1. There are Electives, Arrow Points and Merit Badges that Scouts can earn for participating. There are specific requirements based on the boy’s age and abilities.
2. Each Scout that participates will earn a patch (regardless of the prize/commission program that the unit selects). Patches will need to be ordered by each unit through the prize order process.
3. Trail’s End provides a prize program that allows Scouts to choose from a group of prizes based on their sales level.
4. Each Scout selling $1000.00 or more will become a member of Kernel Korns K-Klub and will be invited to attend the K-Klub pizza party in January. In addition he will receive a K-Klub t-shirt with the names of all K-Klub members printed on it.
5. Scouts that sell $2500.00 or more will become eligible for a college scholarship through Trail’s End. Boys who have already reached the scholarship level should realize that all sales after they qualify will be credited to their scholarship account.
6. Scouts filling their take-order cards completely will receive a recognition from Trails-End

You do not need to order full cases

Each Scout who sells at least one item (regardless of commission plan) will receive a Trails-End patch or pin

Two commission options- Commission Only Option (30% - commission only) or Prize + Commission Option (25% - prizes) District Roundtable 2%, Training at RT 3%

December 9
Last day to turn in money from the Take-Order Sale and to return any product you have left. After this time penalties will accrue in the form of a reduction in commission.
Money turned in MUST BE in the form of a single check for entire unit!

Units turning in on time should expect their commissions by Dec. 23rd .2004 Popcorn Patch

January 2006
K-Klub party will be held in one location in the month of January. The date and location will be announced in December.

Close out with 1 check, payable to the Greater Yosemite Council

No partial closeouts- submit final closeout form and a single check- DO NOT deduct the commission from your final payment to the council.

For Straight Commissions- after closeout, the council will determine the amount of commission and then deposit it into your unit (or individual account for Jamboree Scouts) account. If the unit prefers a check, fill out a check request for and it will be mailed

Advancement Opportunities The sale of popcorn provides opportunities for Scouts to earn money for camp and to meet advancement requirements. Opportunities with Merit badges, Cub Scout achievements, Arrow Points and Webelos Activity Badges are all available within the popcorn sales program.
