Serving on summer camp staff is an adventure

be a positive role model, live at camp for the summer,
and collect a paycheck - all while having a great time.

Mensinger (CJM) is one of the premiere Nationally Accredited,
Boy Scout summer camps in California.Camp Mensinger is
located in the beautiful Sierra Nevada Mountains at an
elevation of approximately 4,800 feet and is surrounded
by the Stanislaus National Forest . Each summer Camp
Mensinger hosts some 3,000 young people as they experience
our wide variety of Scouting related programs. We have
a great challenge to provide our campers with the very
best summer camp experience.
Camp John Mensinger is always seeking
outstanding qualified applicants for both paid and volunteer
staff positions. Older Scouts and Scouters are encouraged
to apply as well. Competition for employment is keen,
the jobs demanding, and the experience exhilarating.
Applicants are considered for positions without regard
to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age (if
over 18), marital status, veteran status or the presence
of a health problem or handicap that is unrelated to
your ability to perform the jobs requested. The application
process and interviews for camp staff are ongoing.
- The minimum age accepted for employment is 16. Boy
Scouts of America standards require ages of 18 and
21 minimum for some positions as indicated on the list
at the bottom of this page.
- Counselor in Training (CIT) is a program for 15
year olds. CIT’s are not paid a salary during
this two week program but are provided room and board.
Individuals completing the CIT program will be given
special consideration for employment on future camp
staffs once they reach the age of sixteen.
- Although we anticipate a full summer camp, staff
members may be subject to a one or more session (week)
layoff without pay, early termination or be asked to
extend their employment.
- All staff members must be registered with the Boy
Scouts of America prior to employment.
- The standards of the Scout Oath or Promise and Law
must be adhered to.
- The staff must set an example of excellence in Scouting
which includes the proper wearing of the full uniform
and the proper use of official equipment while in camp.
- Salary is based on position responsibility with
consideration given to the individual’s experience.
- Review the list of jobs in the various departments,
indicating your preference on the application. A brief
resume of your experience regarding each of your choices
is requested.
- There is no guarantee
that you will be selected for your first choice of
position.
